Bundle up, cause it’s cold out there. Winter temps prevail. Come out and run off some of that turkey and stuffing.

Wednesday touch at the fields at RFK 5:30pm
We were going to experiment with a Tuesday game, but it looks like 100% chance of heavy rain so no luck.
RFK fields seem to have lots of space, good turf, and well-lit. We’ll play there this Wednesday, and see if it is a good fit to become a regular spot
Saturday 11/18 touch is on JFK hockey fields at 9:30am
Sunny mid 50s should be a beautiful day for a run.
Wednesday touch at Randall field 5:30pm
We’ve got the grass field booked. Weather is chilly, but not as bad as it could be. Come have some fun and get exercise to break up the work week.
Monday 11/13 touch is on Bundy field 5:30pm
Limited space expected for only one game at a time tonight. We’ll have to make use of what is available since this field is first come first serve.
New location for 11/11. WW2 memorial side of wasington monument
Wednesday 11/8 touch on Randall field 5:45pm
We’ve got the full size turf field. This should allow plenty of space to get a good couple games going. Thanks to everyone for showing up and being flexible.
It’ll be a little chilly at 52F tonight.
Monday 11/6 Touch is at Park View recreation center 5:30pm
This is the first time we’ve used this field, so it remains to be seen how good a fit it is. It’s reserved, so at least we won’t have any competition, and it’s turf so it should be in good shape.
Fundraising time!
It’s fundraising time! DC touch rugby is the hottest game in town and we need to collect $35 from as many people as possible to keep things going through the winter.
In years past we used to simply take a hiatus for the winter. But for the last two years we’ve adopted Bundy field as our winter home. If you’ve been out over the winter, you know Bundy field is less than ideal, crowded with other pickup groups, and league soccer kicking us off at 7:30.
With the overwhelming (and welcome!) growth in attendance this summer and last winter, we’re trying something new this year. We’re going to reserve fields where we can have plenty of time and space to play.
However there is fierce competition for the limited number of lighted fields around the city, and these all come at a cost. Which is where the money comes in. Believe it or not, $35 is a carefully calculated amount. As long as we hit the target number of donations, it should carry us all the way through March.
Since this is the first year we’re doing this, I’m asking for a little grace. We can’t guarantee the same field every time, the best fields, or that we’ll get a field every Monday and Wednesday. But your donations will help us optimize what is possible, and provide proof of concept to build on next year.
Because we strive to be inclusive and open to all, these are not mandatory dues. Newcomers, visitors, once-a-monthers, or every session regulars are all welcome, with or without payment. But if you plan to come out more than a few times over the winter, please consider making a donation in any amount. The target is $35, but we’ll take whatever you can give. All the money goes directly to field reservations. No overhead, no middleman, no processing costs.
DC touch is committed to being a place for anyone at any skill level to have fun, stay fit and expand the love of touch rugby. This group has been around for more than 10 years and continues to grow. As a social pickup league it’s the participants that make this a success. I’m grateful for everyone bringing their individual skills, abilities, and personalities to the field every week. Let’s keep it going!
See you on the field
