Rained out Wednesday

Probability of precipitation is very high, and it looks like it will be more than a drizzle. Along with the substantial rain there are going to be strong winds and chilly temps. Usually a little water won’t stop us, but the conditions don’t seem conducive to fun or good play. Plus it would be irresponsible to encourage people to come out and catch a cold.

There is still a chance that the rain will wear out as it gets to the city, but it’s not likely today. If the forecast improves by 2pm, there will be a new post. But as of now touch is off for Wednesday.

Touch on WW2 memorial side of Washington monument 5:30pm

The official weather forecast calls this weather pleasant, but I’m going to go further and say it’s excellent! Should be sunny, around 68F, and no precipitation. Hard to believe it was snowing a week ago.

Sun sets at 7:21p, so we’ll be out there until people get tired or it’s too dark to play. We’ll probably stick to this side of the monument for a week or two since the rangers seem to be patrolling the Smithsonian side. Maybe we’ll switch back depending on how things go. Tidal Basin should open up in April, so that’s definitely something to look forward to. In any case this space will be updated with the field location.

Monday at Bundy field 5:30pm

The rain looks like it’s going to hold off until at least 7, so touch is on today. We’ve gotten lucky with some warm weather, but it will still be pretty windy out. Not sure how much competition there will be for with the wind and threat of rain. Five o’clock if you want to throw around early, otherwise the usual 5:30 start time.

Super Stoked Saturday

9:30 on the Mall near Smithsonian metro stop. We’re facing a great weekend. It’s going to start a little chilly around 44F/6C but will be up to 54F/12C by midday.

There are varying reports of trucker convoys that are supposed to be in town this weekend. I haven’t seen anything reliable about significant numbers actually showing up, and no announcements of road closures.

For anyone new or has forgotten their way to touch, below is the location. And as always, good luck to our local Old Glory on the road in sunny San Diego.

Wednesday Bundy field 5 or 5:30pm

It should be a beautiful spring evening, a little cool and breezy, 55F. That of course means spikeball, soccer, and everyone else will be out too.

If you can, get to the field early. Starting at 5pm has really helped us claim space. Next week should be the last time we have to worry about it until next fall.

Saturday on the Mall 9:30am

We’ll play by Smithsonian metro stop. The weather can’t seem to make up its mind, and we get the short end of the stick every Saturday. It is going to be just above or below freezing depending on whether you account for wind chill. The wind will be moderate. We will still have tons of fun and the sun should be out, just be prepared.

Old Glory playing at home Saturday at 4pm. Go team!

Wednesday Bundy field 5pm

We’re lucky that all the rain is going to pass well south of us on Wednesday. The temperature is in our favor as well, about 58F when we get to play.

A big thanks to everyone for putting up with the soccer and spikeball disruptions on Monday. There is limited space right now and we’re all trying to make the best of it. With the warm weather those groups are likely to be out and contending for space again. If you can come at 5 to help claim space and start playing early that is great, but the “official” start time is still 5:30.

Only two more weeks until time change. Depending on how contentious things get the next few outings, we may go to the Mall a week early.

Monday Bundy field 5:30pm

Some people have the holiday off, but not the majority, so we’ll stick to the same time for Monday. Despite the cold weather weekends, we are getting lucky with early spring weather tomorrow. High of 61F, and only drops to about 55F/13C by the time we get out on the field. Probably a safe time to take off the gloves. I encourage people to come early to stake out space since we have soccer to contend with.

We’re inching closer and closer to the time change!! Soon enough we’ll be back on the Mall under natural light with all the space we want.
