We’ll play tonight at Bundy Field 5:30p. There is only about 50% chance of very light rain, and it should be a relatively warm 53 degree evening.

COVID note: The DMV area has seen a tremendous uptick in the number of cases in the last week. I don’t want DC touch to be a superspreader activity, but short of going into lockdown again, it’s going to be difficult not to get this more contagious variant. If you aren’t already, please get vaccinated and boosted. This is the best way to prevent serious illness if you do catch the virus. Wear a mask, avoid crowded indoor areas, and take precautions so our rugby community can stay healthy. We want everyone to come out and play, but make an honest assessment of your risk profile before coming to play. If you help your elderly parents or grandparents every week, or you have young children that could bring the virus from or take the virus to the classroom, or you work in a hospital, these are all examples when it might be best for you not to play.

No touch on Saturday

Come play touch at Bundy field tonight at 5:30pm. It will be very cold, in part due to expected moderate wind chill. But we had a great run Monday in almost the same conditions.

If it doesn’t look like there will be enough people, I’ll put up a cancellation here. But for now assume we are on.

It’s going to be cold this evening, but we’ve got enough interest to get out and play. 5:30pm at Bundy field. The more the merrier, or misery loves company depending on your perspective of running around at 40 degrees

Come play touch on the mall, 9:30 am near Smithsonian metro station. Don’t forget to wear your holiday sweater (or full Santa suit if you’ve got it).

The weather will be fairly mild, but still a little on the chilly side.

It feels like a week since we’ve played…..funny how time works. 9:30am by Smithsonian metro. The Tidal Basin is still sadly under refurbishment.

Weather will be comparatively warm compared to the last few days, but there will be a chilly wind. Rain possible later in the day, so bring an umbrella just in case.

For those of us that couldn’t go to Dubai, we’ll have to settle for playing on the mall tomorrow at 9:30am. But we miss all our friends who are out there playing.

We’re settling into that wonderful season where it isn’t a matter of if it will be cold, but the degree of cold. In that sense, tomorrow should be pretty pleasant. There will be partial sunshine, no wind, and a balmy 50 degrees.

It’s that time of year when the leaves are falling and we get a preview of winter to come. We’ll play Saturday at 9:30. I highly recommend a thermal base layer as it will be pretty cold, especially early on.

Second item of business, it’s time for me to solicit donations again. We had a tremendous response to the first round this summer. Thanks to everyone pitching in so we can cover permits and create a buffer fund for the touch group. If you come regularly the recommended donation is $10 per quarter. Some people just give $40 and then play guilt free all year. If you don’t come regularly, can’t afford to contribute, or for any reason don’t donate, don’t worry. Everyone is still welcome and there is no judgment. However if you donate over $10K we’ll try to get your name on a plaque as member of the chairman’s club. Cash is always welcome.
