Rugby this Saturday?

At the new “compromise” time of 9:30AM. Let us know if you are keen to play.

Currently there is 100% chance of rain on Saturday according to weather.com, so I may have to cancel if it’s raining Saturday morning. I may also push back the start time by an hour if it is supposed to clear up.

So: keep an eye on your email Saturday morning for updates!

For those not heading to the clinic

Hey Guys,

The clinic in Alexandria looks like it’s going to be a good showing.  However, for those of us not heading out to VA I think it would be great to play rugby this weekend given the awesome weather upon us.  It’s supposed to be kind of a perfect day on Saturday–a little cloudy and approaching 70 degrees.  Not too shabby.  If we get numbers, let’s play at 9:30 (our compromise time) at our usual spot.    Let me know if you’re in.

Touch Rugby Clinic on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd

Hey everyone,

The Alexandria team is putting together a touch rugby clinic this weekend.  It’s a great opportunity to not only learn more about the game, but to meet the other ruggers in the DMV.  The event will host coaches and players from across the US, plus, there will be a BBQ!  See details below for more information:

“The touch clinic will be held at the GW Middle School Grass Field #2 (1005 Mt Vernon Ave., Alexandria, VA 22301) on March 22nd & 23rd.

Clinic fee is $20 per person that will help pay for the coach’s fare, field and drinks.

Schedule:

Saturday (3/22)
845am – 1130am: Morning Session.
1130am – 1pm: Lunch
1pm – 4pm: Afternoon Session….

Sunday (3/23)
9am – 1pm.

Galaxy DCA will have a BBQ on Saturday night for everyone (details will be handed out at the field).

This will be a tremendous opportunity for anyone interested in playing to take advantage of it as we are trying to promote and grow the game. We have some great coaches flying in to share their knowledge of the game and to meet and greet everyone.

Email e.palamo@gmail.com to notify Galaxy DCA of your attendance, or if you have any questions”

Bring your cleats, we’re on.

I scouted the field earlier and it’s wet and muddy, but not very different from recent conditions.  Bring your boots because it’s going to be slippery… I’ll see everyone tomorrow at 10:00 am.

Also, at some point tomorrow we’ll discuss the possibility of moving  games to 9:00 am.  We ordinarily wait until the weather gets warmer before we push games up, but there’s been some interest for earlier games so we’ll discuss.

I think the snow will be gone by Saturday so…

who’s in for touch?

Saturday is supposed to be nice, but there might still be some snow on the ground, it’s hard to predict.  If nothing else, expect muddy conditions.  If we get numbers, maybe we’ll play a little further afield so we can let our pitch heal from the beating we’ve given it recently.

All that said, let me know if you’re interested in playing Saturday at 10:00.

PS,  This weekend is daylight saving time, so we may begin mid-week rugby again next week.

PPS, As the weather warms, we’ll begin playing at 9:00 am on Saturdays.  Start mentally preparing for that…
