We’re in a warming trend, and I’m going out on a limb to say that the coldest days are behind us. Temp tonight will be around 40F/4C (hooray for above freezing!!). However, there is a better than 50% chance that there will be some light rain. Not enough to slow us down, but umbrellas and a dry change of clothes are recommended.
Saturday on the Mall
The rain is clearing up and with it goes our brief respite from the cold. It will drop down to below freezing temps tomorrow morning, about 28F/-2C with windchill down to 16F/-9C. Nonetheless we will persevere.
We’ll play near the Smithsonian metro at 9:30am. Plenty of time to get a run in before the six nations afternoon game. Also, Go Old Glory!
Wednesday bundy field 530pm
Touch is on tonight. Sorry for the late notice
Touch Tonight at 5:30 @Bundy Field
Touch is on tonight at Bundy Field at 5:30 PM. We may lose the field at 7:00 so do try to get there ASAP. And bundle up, it will be freezing. See you there!
Saturday! You won’t regret it………maybe
Full disclosure, there is a very real risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Temp will be about 24F/-4C, but strong winds will bring that realfeel way down to 10F/-12C. You’ve been warned.
But on to the fun and games. We’ll be on the mall by Smithsonian metro at 9:30am. It should be good fun. A little sloppy running on fresh snow (if it sticks around) and the wind will present some passing challenge.
Wish We Were Warm Wednesday
Bundy field 5:30pm. I want to thank everyone that still comes out despite the cold, and limited time and field space. We’ve still been having lots of fun and staying active. It’s also a great for the mental health to have some midweek social activity.
Try to come early to boot up and warm up. We want to get started immediately at 5:30 since soccer takes over promptly at 7.
Monday at Bundy field 5:30pm
The weather should be just above freezing with no wind. Just right for those of us that have settled into the winter routine. We’ve been having some great fast paced play lately and I hope to see you all out there.
Saturday on the Mall
We’ll be back by the Smithsonian metro Saturday morning at 9:30am. Brace yourself for the cold. The realfeel is going to be about 18F/-9C. Much like last week, but with lighter wind. Still no precipitation.
Take advantage of the “warm” weather
It’s going to be above 40 degrees tonight, with a very light wind. Now is the time to get your run in before the temps plunge back into the low 20s.
Bundy field 5:30pm sharp. Please try to come as early as possible for warmup, changing boots etc, so that we can get started early or on time. There are soccer teams that start promptly at 7 which limits our playing time.
No touch for Monday
It seems like most people just aren’t thawed out from Saturday. Or the prospect of running on an inch of slushy snow in freezing temps with a strong, biting wind is just not appealing. Weird.
Conditions should be okay for Wednesday though. It will warm up to the mid 40s and with luck the chance of rain will keep diminishing.
