Temp will be in the high 60s, with minimal wind. The storm can’t make up it’s mind if it will drop any rain while we’re out playing. There is a chance of some light rain, so be prepared, but it is looking more and more likely that we’ll stay dry.
Wednesday on the Tidal Basin! 5:30p
We’re back! Despite earlier emails from the NPS that the field would be closed through September, I investigated the rumor that the fencing had come down. Sure enough the fence is down and the website is open again for reservations. The grass can use a little more growth, but still looks fantastic. Best of all, the old stomping grounds will give us plenty of room.
For anyone that hasn’t been to the tidal basin before, the official name if you search google is Raoul Wallenberg field (map below)
You can all look out your windows to see the lovely weather. But to make it official, the weather will be a pleasant 68F with a light breeze and mild cloud cover. Bring a jacket for after as the temp drops fast when the sun sets.

Monday touch is on, near Smithsonian metro 5:30pm
Probably one field east of where we’ve been recently, just to give the turf a little rest. It’s going to be a pleasant 67F and sunny this afternoon
No touch on Saturday
This storm front is looking pretty patchy, but according to all reports the probability of rain is over 75%. Not a downpour, but more than a drizzle, in addition to cold and strong winds. Enjoy a relaxing Saturday morning indoors with some hot cocoa and a book, or whatever is your thing. Recharge for evening touch coming on Monday and Wednesday.
Good luck to our Old Glory friends playing in Boston tomorrow night!
Wednesday, Mall, 5:30p
Same bat time, same bat place. Mall by smithsonian metro. Any chance of rain will have passed by the time we play, and the temp should be a reasonably warm 77F.
We had a great fast paced run on Monday! Looking forward to more of the same today. For anyone that’s recently started playing touch, don’t get discouraged by some of the more intense days. As long as you’re having fun, we’re happy to have you out. And anyone thinking about coming out, it’s time to do it already!
Monday is on the Mall by Smithsonian metro 5:30p
Welcome to a new week and a new month. Touch is still here for good times. It’s going to be warm and sunny with a high forecast for fun.
Saturday, 9:30am, Mall by Smithsonian metro stop
We’ll be on the field closest to the metro, or successively closer to the capital building depending on space and/or roping of fields.
The park rangers came by to enforce the no cleat rule on Wednesday, but they were nowhere to be found when a soccer group was playing in cleats an hour later. Going barefoot on that field is quite pleasant, so no real loss if the haphazard enforcement requires us to go without cleats tomorrow.
Weather will be chilly tomorrow. It will warm up later on, but while we’re playing it’s not going to crack 60F.
Good luck to all our friends on Nova and WRFC playing in Buffalo this weekend!!
Wednesday by Smithsonian Metro 5:30p
With the cherry blossom hullabaloo behind us, space on the Mall is available and we couldn’t ask for a more picturesque place to play. The weather will be a little chilly and breezy so bring your base layer or a jacket for before and after.
There have been a lot of new faces coming through in the last few weeks. This is great, and a good opportunity to say that we welcome everyone to come play. From beginners to pros, as long as you show up with a good attitude, come out for some fun and exercise.

Monday touch is on 5:30pm. Location on or around the Mall
The tidal basin is officially closed through September, the WW2 side is being taken over by kickball that sets up very early, and the east side of the Mall is bustling with tourists. We’re a little squeezed for location, so this is going to be a bit of choose your own adventure today and until we find a dependable location.
Option 1: Mall between 4th and 12th. There are four big fields, and if one of those is not packed with tourists, then that’s where we’ll play.
Option 2: Close to WW2 memorial. This is the same location as most Mondays and Wednesdays, just closer to the road (17th). There is generally enough space near the kickball people.
Option 3: North side of the Washington monument. These fields are also not great and on a slight hill. Not ideal, but can work in a pinch.
Keep your eyes here for an update between 5 and 5:30 to confirm the location. But plan on the options above in that order.
