No rugby today unfortunately.

Too little interest for a game today.  Not too many replies to the blog post, and a couple confirmed texts by others who couldn’t attend.  It was an early try for Wednesday.  Expect that we’ll be playing next week.

Friday’s rain is going to make playing on Saturday a little muddy, but unless its a complete mess, rugby will be on.  I’ll reach out later this week.

Iffy about rugby tomorrow due to a return to the cold. Want to play anyway?

Hey Guys,

Annoyingly, cold weather is approaching to ruin the much-desired beginning of Spring.  Temps tomorrow are going to be in the low 40’s.  That’s not the worst, but for a Wednesday, it’s irritating.  Still, it’s been forever since we played so I want to take a poll to gauge interest for tomorrow.

If you want to play, let me know.  We’d be at the same Wednesday “field” as last year.  Nothing better (i.e. something unoccupied, good quality, free, and easily accessible for most people) has materialized yet.

So yeah, let me know if you’re in.  Otherwise, we’ll shoot for Saturday which looks like its 100% on.

Streak of Saturday Crap Weather Continues…No Rugby

As a consolation the 6 Nations Championship will be televised this morning at 10:30, and there’s a 1:00 o’clock game as well.  RiRa in Georgetown is playing both with no cover charge.  James Hoban’s is doing both too, I’m sure, but they have a $20 cover charge, which provides $20 worth of food and drinks.

The early forecast for next week looks good for Saturday rugby.

Also, Wednesday rugby is going to start again soon.  I think the 25th makes sense to start up, but if there’s a lot of enthusiasm, maybe this week makes sense.  I’m hunting for an alternative field, but in the mean time, the old spot will suffice.

Tomorrow’s a Game-time Decision

Hey Guys,

The forthcoming rain is putting a damper on our plans to head out and play rugby tomorrow morning.  I know we’re all desperate to play–it’s been a month since we’ve been out there.  But it’s going to be a tough call if the rain is as consistent as forecasts predict.

I’ll make a determination tomorrow morning at around 8:30.  Hopefully it won’t be raining then, and hopefully the ground won’t be too soaked.  Be on the lookout for my posting.

Again, no rugby.

The field clearly isn’t good enough to play on with the snow.  Hopefully we’ll be back at it next week.

It’s Day Light Saving this week, so that means Wednesday rugby is right around the corner too.  I’ll keep everyone posted about that.

I’ve also been looking at fields we might want to secure for Wednesdays.  The current spot is obviously small.  A new field will probably cost each of us some money (I’m thinking a rugby fund raising party is in order) but it would be worth it.  I’ll do some research and get back to everyone.  Worst case we’ll stick to what we’ve currently got if we can’t generate sufficient funds, or if for other reasons, a new field doesn’t make sense.

Watching rugby this weekend, not playing.

Hey Guys,

Rugby’s off again.  The snow has yet to melt.  But watching Six Nations should cure the no-playing rugby blues.  Sunday at 10:00 AM, the English play the Irish.  Olly’s already reserved a table at James Hoban’s in DC.  Enjoy the best rugby the Northern Hemisphere has to offer.  If you’re really keen, they’re also broadcasting matches on Saturday.  Scotland v. Italy at 9:30 AM, and France v. Wales at 12:00.
