Hey Guys,

With the tournament on, I think a few people may not be around for our typical Saturday game so I wanted to send out a survey to see if we have numbers.

If you’re interesting in playing tomorrow at 9:30, let me know.  Weather looks to be nice, though the ground may be a bit soggy if it rains today.

There seems to be good interest to play today so rugby is on.  The hourly forecast looks like the rain should hold off until about 8:00PM so you guys should be good to go.  Still, there’s a decent chance it’ll rain so be mindful of that.  If you guys change your minds as the day progresses, respond to this post.  For now, we’re on.

I think you guys should meet at the 15th and Constitution spot, not the usual 17th and Constitution field where we ordinarily play on Saturdays.  Softball is really ramping up so it’s probably worth it to secure a definite spot than to try to compete with them (though, given the chance for rain it may be less populated tonight–something to consider when you guys head out).  I’m out for today, but hopefully I’ll be able to make Saturday.

Also, I’ve polled many of you and it seems tournament interest is pretty low.  We don’t have enough to field our own squad.  However, if you were keen on playing, the tournament organizers would still love to have you come out.  They’ll assign you to a team when you arrive.  And don’t worry, you’ll definitely play a lot. It’s a pretty long day of rugby so each team could use as many bodies as they can get.  Here are the tournament details again below for those who are interested:

Last week was an outright success despite the lack of a survey.  We’re doing it again for this week and forward for the rest of the Summer (and probably Fall too!).

I’ll see everyone tomorrow at the field (17th and Constitution for you newbies) at 9:30.  I’ve got some cones, so I’ll bring those.  Someone else, be sure to bring a ball.   

We should be done about 90 minutes before Wences’ BBQ.  If you plan on coming but haven’t alerted Wences or Ryan yet, let me know by responding to this post and I’ll transmit the message back.  Should be fun!

Too few numbers for rugby today.  If you still want to get out there, I believe the Scandals are playing at Garrison Elementary School on 11th and S NW from 7-8:30.  They’ll welcome you to play, no doubt. 

Looking out at the weekend, I’m pretty sure we’ll be on for Saturday.  Wences is also hosting a rugby bbq (which I’m 100% attending) so be sure to let him know you’re coming if you can.  I’ll send reminders about playing, the bbq, and the tournament on Friday.

Hey Guys,

So we’re experimenting with getting rid of surveys for Saturday rugby during the Summer because it’s usually very well attended, particularly when the weather is going to be as good as expected for tomorrow.  If it’s a bust and we don’t get numbers, lesson learned, but I think we’ll be just fine.  We’ve been doing this for two years and experience tells me we should be good to go.

Whoever has the cones, bring ’em.  And bring a ball if you got one.

We’ve got enough players for today.  My guess is the rain and thunder won’t be too disruptive so we should be good to go.  Meet at 17th and Constitution like we’ve been playing and try to secure the field before the softballers come and take too much space.

FYI, I won’t be there today, but I’ll be back at it on Saturday. 

PS Don’t forget the balls and cones.
