It’s time for Saturday touch numbers. Open to players of all skill levels and ages, just like our newest junior team member that joined for a run last weekend! Let us know if you’re in or out (that is of course if your parents let you use the internet).

Given the anniversary of the March on Washington, security and crowds might overwhelm the Mall and prevent us from playing.  Apparently the procession was no trouble on Saturday, and hopefully it won’t be an issue today.  I have no way of knowing right now what the situation will be like so all I can say is that we head down and try to play.  I’ll assess and post a blog entry if we get kicked off though.  We might be able to change locations to a different spot on the mall, especially if softball games are cancelled.  With some luck there won’t be any issues.

Rugby’s on, but lookout for a blog post around 5:00.  If it’s raining more than lightly, I’ll have to cancel.  I think we’ll be fine though. 

Otherwise, it’s the usual Wednesday drill.  Meet at 15th and Constitution at 6.  For those who are willing and able, feel free to arrive closer to 5:30 or so. 

to explain the importance of Wednesday rugby to a group of softball and flag football players who rise and sleep under the blanket of athleticism that only ruggers truly provide, then question the crazy game we play.  I’d prefer they just acknowledge our awesome moves, and exceeding level of fitness, and went on their way.  Otherwise, I suggest they pick up the rock and stand ready.  Either way, I don’t give a damn what they think sports really are and the field space they’re entitled to. 

Are we ordering a Code Red for Wednesday rugby?  Let me know if you’re in.

Team as we stand now, we’re very thin on players for tomorrow. I know a bunch of people just show up but please take 10 seconds to respond with an “in” if you can make it. Otherwise if we don’t see the interest, we won’t call the game.

Who’s in?

We’ll also test interest in setting up a mini tournament with the Columbia Touch team sometime in September (we’ll take a quick poll to see what weekend suits everyone). They’re a pretty strong side so let’s get in some good touch practice this Saturday in preparation!

We’ve got sufficient players today.  Actually, given the last few weeks I feel like we’ll have 15-20, so we have more than enough.Notes:

1) I forgot my ball last Saturday, did someone pick it up? 

2) Some people mentioned last week coming earlier to Wednesday rugby, closer to 5:30 or so.  If you’re keen, go for it.  I usually arrive a bit before 6 myself and wouldn’t mind seeing a few faces already running, passing, setting things up, etc.  So if you want to come early, that’s fine.  I’m not going to stop you.  This is America.  Live your life…
