Hey Guys,
Who’s in for Saturday rugby? I pushed the time back an hour so you guys can nurse your hangovers for 60 more minutes…
Weather’s looking good too. Ideal conditions for a good run. Let’s get out there.
Hey Guys,
Who’s in for Saturday rugby? I pushed the time back an hour so you guys can nurse your hangovers for 60 more minutes…
Weather’s looking good too. Ideal conditions for a good run. Let’s get out there.
Here’s the basic info for the tournament. I’ll discuss specific DC Touch rugby details this Saturday and again on the Wednesday before.
The Announcement:
The Wild Geese “Old Boys” Rugby Football Club is hosting a touch rugby tournament at Gosling Park (20500 Martinsburg Road, Dickerson, MD 20842) on Saturday 5th October 2013 starting at 11am – with a pre-match training from 10-10:30 for beginners. The tournament will raise funds for Wild Geese Charities in the D.C. area and “Hope in South Africa.”
The day will be divided into two groups: very competitive and competitive. We will group new and still learning teams together and allow the high speed, low drag teams to compete against their same level. This will ensure that everyone gets to enjoy the day. 2 x 12 minute halves with a 5 minute breather. Youth 12 and above welcome (or speedy and experienced 10/11 year olds).
Gosling Park is situated on a beautiful historic farm site with 2 pitches, not far from Poolesville, MD. Located near the C&O canal – which is great for hiking and biking – bring the family and kids for a day of fun.
Players should bring plenty of water and everyone should bring chairs and shade tents (there are no shade trees next to pitch). BBQ and grilled items as well as a few vegetarian dished will be provided. The tournament will provide bottle water and you will need to bring beer.
$20 per player
Lots of interest for rugby today so we’re definitely on.
If someone can, please bring a ball. We usually have 2 or 3, but I forgot mine. Just want to make sure we’re ready to go.
Also, as I mentioned in my last post, bring $20 if you’re interested in attending the tournament on October 5th. You don’t need to get it to me today, but the sooner the better.
Okay, I’ll see everyone at 6 at 15th and Constitution, White House side.
Hey Guys,
Let me know if you’re in for tomorrow. Clearly we all love Wednesday rugby (we had 26 show up last week!) but confirm so we can make it official that we’re going to play.
Also, I’ll be collecting fees for participation in the upcoming touch rugby tournament for anyone who’s interested in playing for DC Touch. The tournament is on Saturday October 5th. It’s $20 per person. Not bad for several hours of competitive rugby and good food.
We’ve got the numbers and so do Columbia Touch. Should be a good turn out! See you there tomorrow at 9:30AM!
Despite the fact that participation wasn’t explicitly asked for Saturday in the last post, please DO SO! Every game is the same; we need to know if we have the MRP (Minimum Required Players) which is typically 10-12 warm bodies. So without an “in” there is no other way of knowing how many people will show.
Give the organizers of DC Touch Rugby a helping hand and provide us your most prompt “in” in the comments section. This is especially important in this case as we have visitors going out of their way to join us from another state!
Team, this Saturday we’ll be joined by our friends (and rivals) Columbia Touch Rugby for a friendly match. Let’s put on a show of force and come out with some good numbers this weekend. We’ll start a bit later on Saturday to give the Columbia guys a bit of time to make it down to the Mall (also it will be a little cooler weather).
Remember this is a social game so all skill levels welcome! See you on the field!

Hey guys,
Rugby’s on. It’s hot. It’s humid. Stop whining…
See everyone at 15th and Constitution (White House Side) at 6, or earlier if you can make it!
Hey all,
We haven’t played in a week! I know you’re desperate for swift passes and glory runs, so let’s get some good numbers for tomorrow. There’s an added incentive to show up. This Saturday, our old friends from Maryland (Columbia Rugby) are planning to come down to play a couple of games against us. Naturally, we’ll want to be well-practiced and prepared. A good run on Wednesday will go a long way ensuring we play our best come Saturday. If that’s not reason to show, then I don’t know what is.
Also, if you’re a regular Wednesday player, but don’t show up to Saturdays, no worries. Please come out tomorrow in any case. It’s fun to have a large, diverse crowd of ruggers show up.
Okay, let me know if you’re in, guys.
Hey guys. There was very little interest for rugby tomorrow. Gotta cancel. Hopefully we get numbers for Wednesday.
