Hi team,

Eric has kindly organized for the printing of these very cool tank tops for the team heading to the tournament next week. For those coming and wanting one of the below, Please POST YOUR SIZE (S,M,L, XL etc) and cut (male/female) in the comments section (if you are between sizes, Eric recommends getting the size below). The cost is a very reasonable $15 and we need to know whether you’re in for one by THIS FRIDAY. Of course, if you are not coming to the tournament and want one anyway, just let us know! Also, if you’re coming to touch on Thursday evening or Saturday please bring with you both the money for the “jersey” and for the tournament (total $35).

Finally, for those who have not confirmed their participation for next Saturday, please comment on this post letting me know if you can make it. We have 14 confirmed with 2 maybes so it would be nice to get to 18-20 so we can have two teams represented. I will be organizing logistics this weekend via email and not via the blog so let me know if you’re in!

Hey guys, considering we have a tournament coming up soon, it would be helpful to get a few more games in. Is anyone interesting in play on Thursday at 6 pm?

Hi team,

As mentioned today (and a few times previously by Cliff) there is a touch tournament in a few weeks time in Dickerson, Maryland and WE NEED YOU to be part of dctouchrugby.com’s first official TEAM ( catchy team name pending).

The relevant details about the event are all here http://www.wildgeeserugby.com/touch-tournament-2013.htm, but to summarize….

• When: Saturday June 29 at 11AM (pre-match training at 10AM)
• Where: Gosling Park (20500 Martinsburg Road, Dickerson, MD 20842)
• Players: 6 on field, up to 6 subs
• Rules: Australian FIT (what we play w/o the kick-off). The games will be refereed
• Teams: There are 4 teams confirmed so far (so we can expect to play at least 4 games)
• Skill level: All skill levels/experience welcome
• Cost: $20 per person, or $200 per team, $5 for spectators. Money will go to food, drinks and donation to support local youth rugby

What we need from YOU: Let me know if you are in by commenting on this post. Note that this is about one hour outside of D.C. so those with cars, let us know how many spaces you would likely have available to help with transport (we can then organize carpooling via email). We will set the minimum players to participate in this tournament at 10. It will likely be hot so we can keep fresh by using subs as much as we can. Please let me know if you are interested in coming! If we get 10, that’s great, if we get 12, even better. More than that and we can even think about having TWO teams! Also, feel free to bring spectators/fans too!

A couple of other logistical items we’re hoping to sort out is finding a tent for shade, and chairs. If anyone has any leads on either, please let me know! Of course if we get together a team for this, it would mean that there will be NO game on the mall Saturday June 29 (so you may as well join us for the tournament!).

Any questions, email me and I’ll get in touch with Brian the organizer. Thanks to Cliff for making us aware of this event and for bringing us into the fold of the wider D.C. area rugby community!

Team, we have the numbers so we are ready to go! Also can someone bring a ball with? Not sure V man is going to make it so we’ll need a substitute (perhaps the training ball I’ve seen thrown around that’s a similar size to the touch ball).

Also, the last few games, I’ve felt my passing has been a little underwhelming so I dug up this video on passing skills. Nothing new here, but thought it would be worthwhile sharing (click on the photo)!

Didn’t get the numbers and I imagine the pitch will be a mess after all this rain. Seems everyone is out of town!

Ermmmmmmmmmm so what if we push back the start time to 10am? Would more people be interested? Reply to the post if so.

Who’s in?! You know the drill!

Anthony – pity you weren’t at this broncos game last week! A bit more of the old razzle-dazzle….

Guys we are expecting a great turn out tomorrow (at 9AM!). Looking forward to the game. Remember to bring your sunscreen, water and hat fans, it’ll be a hot one!
